About

Pickleball ACT is run entirely by volunteers who share a love of the game and a vision for pickleball’s future.

Pickleball ACT (PACT) is a non-profit sports organisation established on 8 July 2021 to promote and develop the sport of pickleball in the ACT. We’re both the territory association and a thriving community club — representing over 1,000 players across Canberra and the region, from beginners to competitive athletes.

Our members play for fun, fitness, and friendship — seven days a week across multiple venues including our home base, The Pickledome in Fadden.

How it all began

Our story started back in 2018, when a few keen players each discovered pickleball on their own.

It wasn’t until 2020–2021 that those early players connected — and from that small group of six to eight people, Pickleball ACT was born.

What began as casual hit-outs on borrowed courts has now grown into a bustling network of players, venues, tournaments, and community programs — all driven by local enthusiasm and volunteer energy.

From that modest start, we have grown into a regional pickleball powerhouse — with more than 1,000 active players, weekly sessions across Canberra, and major events such as the ACT Championships, Masters Cup, and Big Chill.

What makes us unique

Pickleball ACT is unlike any other state association — we’re both a governing association and an active playing club.

This gives us the best of both worlds:

  • The professionalism and structure of a representative body

  • The energy, connection, and community spirit of a local club

Through our Pickleroos identity, we’ve built a sense of pride and belonging that keeps members coming back — not just to play, but to be part of something bigger.

Our growth and vision

We’ve gone from a handful of players to one of the fastest-growing pickleball communities in Australia.

As we look ahead, our focus is on:

  • Expanding venues and court access
  • Building player pathways from social play to competition
  • Investing in coaching and volunteer development
  • Partnering with local businesses and government to grow the sport sustainably
Our goal

To make Canberra a regional powerhouse for pickleball — a place where everyone, regardless of age or ability, can pick up a paddle and join the fun.
